Capital Development Board/IDOT Salt Storage Facility

Project Info

CDB designated this project for a design/build delivery method in an effort to expedite the delivery of the salt storage facility for the upcoming winter. The scope of work was to prepare “bridging documents” to be issued for bidding by the design/build entities. Multiple site and building designs to house the 10,000 tons of salt required were prepared for selection by IDOT. The selected 19,300 square foot facility design was then advanced thru the Design Development phase. Specifications were also prepared listing approved products, manufacturers, and quality of workmanship expected by CDB. 

Upon issuing the design documents for bidding, the RKG Design Group became the owner’s representative during the bidding and construction phases to ensure compliance with the original design intent.
